Plans are for Suckers and Technical Support Question
So, yeah, for someone who like to have a plan (and really loves to see them come together), I’m not getting to do that so much this year. The job is there but not. The car is here – but not the tags. The parts are in place but the end result…not so much. Trying very hard to let it all go and let it work out however it will. I need to learn to be more “go with the flow”, apparently. I’ve always been a “how?” and “why?” person. Never was really good at “accept and move on”.
Now, for the tech help. And once more, if your answer is “get a Mac”, move along. Because unless you’re buying it for me (along with all the software I would need), that’s not helpful.
I have a 18 month old (ish) Toshiba L305-S5894 Satellite laptop. When I use the touchpad, it seems too sensitive. The mouse jumps around the screen because my hand bumps the pad or something (I have the same problem with my work laptop but there, we have an IT guy to fix it).
Okay, so thinking it’s a sensitivity issue, I go to adjust the settings, except I can’t find the touchpad ANYWHERE in the computer. All the mouse drivers that show up are my external ones.
The Toshiba support forums are worse than useless for trying to pin down a problem. Anyone have a clue? An option other than “buy a new computer”? Because I’m not Fry’s. I don’t have replacement options right now.

On my Dell, the touchpad controls are hidden under the obscure name of “controlpoint”…
I was having problems with my laptop that way so I went and bought an external wireless mouse and keyboard kit for it. Works MUCH better for me. Only was about $35 (ish), got it at Target, but they have them all over the place.
I found drivers for my touch pad. Normally I do use externals, but sometimes that’s not an option. At work we have external mouses but not keyboards. With MY machine, I’m using the computer in other places besides where I can use the wireless externals.
