Veterans Day and a Different View

Posted by reudaly on November 11, 2009 in Life |

Happy Veterans Day, and a mighty “thank you” from this member of a grateful nation to you who do now or have served and to your families who supported your decision to do so. Hug a Veteran, or buy them a cup of coffee or a drink or something. It’s the least we can do for all they’ve done for us.

Today is a different kind of day for me. I’m actually in a hotel lobby in Memphis waiting for housekeeping to get done with our room. Autozone Park is a cross the street and there’s a high school marching band out there. Huh. My husband had a training thing here today and his co-worker – who was supposed to do the training with him got sick, so I got to have an adventure.

I found myself thinking about my friend, Joyce, who passed in 1997 from Ovarian Cancer. The last time I was in Memphis for any length of time was a few months after she died. I know I came through with my dad when we ran radial readings, but haven’t been able to do the “tourist” thing much.

I’m using this time to get some mental fresh air. To enjoy a different kind of “blues”. But I’m not completely slacking off. I need to write my Strange Words article and get my word count in before 4 p.m. when it’s play time with Jimmy. We head back tomorrow in time to blitz clean the house for the ORAC meeting on Saturday!

Okay… to work!
