[Spotlight Post] Sci Fi Expo 2014
It’s Friday. It’s Sci Fi Expo Eve. The boxes are packed. The table set up is ready to go. Jimmy and I will head over after I get off work to do the grunt work so we’re ready for anything tomorrow and Sunday. I’ll post information on where to find me later tonight when I know more.
Sci Fi Expo is a good show. It tends to be more laid back than the May Comic Con (which is moving to the Dallas Convention Center), but still packs a celebrity-studded punch. I’m going to highlight some of them here for a promotional spotlight.
Eddie McClintock from Warehouse 13 – go see him, whether at his table or with the other Warehouse 13 guests. I met him at the October 2012 Fan Days (my first Comic Con Show). He was the nicest guy to a goober fan girl. I’m actually doing my set up tonight in my Eddie McClintock Warehouse 13 t-shirt. Genuinely pleasant and approachable person as well as an extremely talented actor.
Karl Urban…enough said. He is two of my fan girl crushes rolled into one. Dr. McCoy and Karl Urban. I met him in 2000 when he was still a Hercules/Xena guest. The most lovely individual one could meet. Entertaining in a panel and personable to the fans. I can’t imagine that he would’ve fundamentally changed over time (at least I hope not) as he’s achieved much deserved success. And with his talent, his success is very much deserved.
Anne Lockhart. Without her, FenCon wouldn’t have had a charity last year. I need to stop by and say thank you. She is also a beautiful person all around. She was super pleasant to me when I ended up having a five minute conversation with her in the ladies’ room…yes, girls can do that.
Now… to my wish list… I hope I have the opportunity to meet Saul Rubinek. He’s one of the character actors I truly adore. Seriously, I watched Warehouse 13 more for HIM than the younger cast. But Jamie Murray and Allison Scagliotti would also be cool.
Just for the “pretty” factor, I would totally love to meet Stephen Amell. I really do like Arrow – it’s fun, action packed, and NOT Teenage-Angst so common on the CW. And I really want to know if the tattoos are HIS or Oliver Queen’s. 😎
I also want to meet Vic Mignogna since he’s scheduled to do SoonerCon in June (as am I). Just to see what one of my fellow guests is like.
There are going to be a ton of fun things to do and see, as well as actors to meet. These are fun shows. Devin Pike moderates a lot of the Q&As. He’s funny and charming and does good panel. You’ll have a good time. And come by my table and see me.
