[Writer Post] Crazy Busy Updaty Timey Wimey Stuff
Suffering from a bit of “foot in mouth†disease today, but hey, I brought cupcakes, so hopefully that counters the slip of the tongue.
So…updates… I’m stupid busy this week. What else is new? I have a half-finished short story for an end of the month deadline. Of course, then the freelance gig I have decides this pay period’s work should all hit the last few days of the pay period. I hope to have that done tonight so I can focus on the story until the weekend.
Now is also when the major gear up for WorldCon and FenCon happen. WorldCon is last minute stuff (fortunately only for ONE guest), and getting all my ducks in a row for my “Unofficial†programming/event stuff. Waiting for some finalized times to put the word out.
I’ve been passing along the excerpts Rick Klaw has been featuring for Rayguns Over Texas. Please consider supporting this anthology when it launches at WorldCon. I am in some rarified company in this – where I am firmly in the “And More†category of authors, but I don’t think you’ll regret it. I don’t regret getting off my behind and getting something done for it. Thanks, Rick, for taking the chance on my piece.
Now for the updated ranty portion: Oh, ,y Facebook comment yesterday about my “give a crapper†needs to be broken? The co-worker I mentioned a week or so ago? She got another job. She’s checked out. She’s avoiding all the work possible – including and especially the stuff I need her to do in order for me to do my, and if I don’t stop caring about that my head will explode.
I have very little hope of anything getting better for the Content Monkey anytime soon. They’ve been trying to interview people for the last couple of weeks. Only ONE has shown up for the interview. WTH??? Okay, the DBAA, professional writer corollary…IF YOU COMMIT TO SOMETHING, DO IT. If an emergency/unforeseeable circumstance comes up? CALL. TEXT. EMAIL. COMMUNICATE!!!! That’s the professional thing to do. Writing and publishing? Much smaller world than ecommerce. You fall down on a publishing job or a signing event? You will work really, really, really hard to overcome that black mark. IF you can overcome it.
