[Spotlight Post] New Friday Spotlight Posts

Posted by reudaly on April 6, 2012 in Books, Spotlight |

Now that the archives are caught up to what’s on the website, I had to come up with an idea for Friday posts. The thought I had this week is a “Spotlight” section. For now, it’s not guest bloggers or interviews – it’s just who/what I’m reading, seeing, being inspired by at the time. I’d call it my “pimp” blog, but I have a feeling that would raise some eyebrows and stuff (and or scare some folks off).

However, in great surprise to no one, I’m going to start the spotlight posts with…ME! Because I realize that I haven’t done a single post about ALL The projects I have out at the moment. I do individual ones as projects come out, but not one that is a blanket marketing ploy. And that’s today.

After today, we’ll talk about other people. But today, I’m pulling a Miss Piggy. It’s all about… MOI – and Yard Dog Press, since 80% of what I have available for print and online purchase is from them.

Solo Work:
When the Party’s Over – Fairy Tale reality ending stories. A themed collection of stories of what might’ve REALLY happened during the “Ever After”. These stories are connected by narrative vignettes that give separate stories a cohesive story arc. This is more in the feel of TV Show, Once Upon A Time. Also in Download.

Please, Sir, May I have Some More – Orphaned Stories of Speculative Fiction. These are stories that made it to a very small print run – or ALMOST made it to a print run (with a few new stories) – and then the press they sold to went under. These are good stories that deserve a shot at life. Also shows that I have some range as a writer.

The Four Redheads of the Apocalypse:

Our Four Author Series/Franchise – whichever you want to call it. Our characters were socialites of a sort in their times. They married the Horsemen of the Apocalypse – who then died in a tragically stupid ice fishing accident. We inherited their jobs. We are completely inept, and these are our adventures.

The Four Redheads of the Apocalypse – the original four story chapbook. Meet us here.

Redheads of the Apocalypse: Apocalypse NOW! – if we bring about the apocalypse, there is no need for Horsewomen anymore, right?

Redheads in Love – if we find new husbands suitable to all parties, they can take over the job. We can retire. But things are NEVER that simple.

Random Collections:

More Stories That Won’t Make Your Parents Hurl was my first sale of a short story in the SF markets. This anthology is a collection of original fairy tales and fables told in the original Grimm Style – dark and creepy, lessons are learned, actions have consequences. If you like the TV show GRIMM, you’ll probably like this one. Written for kids of all ages.

Flush Fiction is a flash fiction anthology. All stories are 1000 words or less (meant to be read in a single sitting). This was a charitable donation story – the proceeds for this anthology go toward an Emergency Medical Fund for small press writers without health insurance. We never raise enough money to help with medical bills, but we can help with a load of groceries or other expense – which is something equally necessary.

I Should Have Stayed in Oz is my newest anthology offering. Based on the original Frank Baum Wizard of Oz, we take a look at Dorothy – who has decided that Kansas isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. These are tales of what happened next. Dorothy tries to get back to Oz. Does she succeed? What’s her story? In my story….she’s a storm chaser.

Bubbas of the Apocalypse:
Blue Collar SF Humor – the only people to survive the apocalypse are Yuppies who became Zombies by spending large amounts of time in front of CRT screen (Yumbies) and those who are immune by ingesting large amounts of generic BBQ sauce (Bubbas). This has many volumes – I’m in TWO of them.

International House of Bubbas – Bubbas are taken out of the continental USA. Either American Bubbas in other locations, or indigenous Bubbas to other countries. This is my ONE story written in FIRST PERSON BAD BORIS BADINOFF accent.

A Bubba in Time Saves None – Just what it sounds like – Bubbas (and Yumbies) thrown back through time. I chose 1950s Las Vegas and NASCAR – my bubba takes on organized crime, gambling, AND Yumbies.
