Now THAT’S What I Call A Weekend
No offense to my Scarborough friends, but finally a weekend!!! (And they had two months of rehearsals on top of the eight weeks of run.)
My fangirl’s heart is full to overflowing tonight after this weekend. And both my body and spirit are renewed by long nights of sleep punctuated with a prodigious Saturday afternoon nap. This weekend had all my favorite things and even though my sinuses are trying to reach up and slap me, I’m not letting them weaken this moment.
Jimmy and I spent most of the weekend in East Texas at the family lake house. Didn’t see much of the lake. The area around it is revitalizing all the time. Edom and Ben Wheeler seem to actually be growing again. We saw fellow Scarborough vendors, Arbor Castle Birdhouses, in their native environment. One of their creations is triggering a plot bunny.
Picked blueberries at Blueberry Hill Farms. Got 18 cups this year…
In Ben Wheeler, we met Dan Harrison. Dan Harrison made my little fan girl heart thump because he designs and hand makes knives. And he has started teaching classes. And I’m completely in fan girl love. On top of that, he’s a treasure trove of Texas history and just a fun, fun, talkative man. And I totally think Lone Star Books needs to look into doing a book on him – I’d pitch it but I’m not a Texas History/Nonfiction expert. But I would LOVE to take a class or three from this man. Someday….
Then there was reading/napping/reading more and cooking out. I finished Allan Cole’s Wizard of the Winds (or When the Gods Slept – same book), and started Catherine Jinks‘s Evil Genius.
Came home to go see The A-Team Movie I was prepared for grave disappointed, and was so pleasantly surprised I haven’t stopped SQUEEING. Something told me to stay till the bitter end. SO GLAD. If you didn’t – GO BACK AND SEE IT AGAIN. There is justice in the universe. My faith in Stephen Cannell remains unshaken. And my top two earliest fangirl crushes remain INTACT and STRONG. I’ve been a Murdock Girl since 1983 – just as I was a Dr. McCoy fangirl – in both incarnations — the fangirl love remains STRONG.
To Ridley and Tont Scott – please sirs? May I have some more????
