Friday the 13th, the Road, and Horned Frogs

Posted by reudaly on November 13, 2009 in Life, Writing |

Enjoy your Friday the 13th – I continue my campaign to take the “scary” out of Friday the 13th and put it on MONDAY the 13th. And in a bit of old school spirit – GO FROGS!!! TCU is my university. They’ve had a major year this year and deserve all the cudos they’re getting.

So for those NOT playing the “Where’s Rhonda” game, I spent the last three days on the road. Two were driving from Texas to Tennessee and back. My husband had to do a business training thing in Memphis. The co-worker who was supposed to go with him ended up sick, so at the last minute on Monday, we changed plans and I went with him. Since we didn’t leave until about 11:30 on Tuesday, I was able to do my ‘normal’ stuff before we left. I had most of Wednesday on my own, so I did my ‘normal’ stuff. Thursday, no so much… 😎

However, this is why I’m doing 250-500 five days a week. So if there’s a Thursday when I don’t get my word count in, I can do it on Saturday or Sunday and not have that “loser”, falling off the wagon feeling. Or I can get 500 -750 words in today and be done. We’ll see how it goes.

I’ll post pictures soon. Tuesday night and big chunks of Wednesday were spent on “touristy” stuff. Yesterday was driving home exhaustion. Today isn’t a day of rest because tomorrow is ORAC day at our house. Fortunately, we’ve had guests in the last couple of weeks to get a head start on the housecleaning. And I’m getting back into ‘routine’.

Note to self — the black kicks do NOT make awesome walking shoes not matter what kind of insoles. They’re sneaky about it too. My feet and legs were tired on Wednesday. NOW? Ow… calf and lower shins are NOT happy with me. But it was good to get away for a few days. Go someplace new. Soak up some new air.

Oh, and the Doubletree in downtown Memphis is a good hotel – granted I spent more time going through The Peabody next door with the ducks and shops and stuff. But the Doubletree had comfortable beds, a comfortable lobby, and free wifi throughout the hotel. The free wifi in the rooms surprised me since that’s not been the case in any of the business class hotels I’ve been in the last couple of years. It was AWESOME to have the wifi in the comfy room. YAY Doubletree Memphis – also their valets and front desk make GREAT food recommendations!!!! Listen to the hotel staff there.

Now, I’m back and it’s time to get back to work. Words do NOT write themselves.
