Elder Cat Issues and Possible Radio Silence
My 19 year old cat, Dixon, may have had a stroke. She may have a dread disease. She may just be 19 and about to shuffle off this mortal coil. My husband is arranging to take her to the vet on the advice of our cat expert, Dusty. I can’t do it. She may be treatable, then there will be some sense of relief. If not… well, I can’t deal with that right now. So, if I go quiet. That’s why.
She’s been showing “elder cat” signs for a while (beyond being 19). But just in the last couple of days, she’s seemed to be unable to see, or at at least see well.
The appointment is at 4:30. I’m going to try to take off work early to go, too. Though I feel like the absolutely worst kitty mom on the planet right now. And in the immortal words of Monty Python, she’s “not dead yet”.
P.S. On Dusty’s advice, we’ve bumped up the appointment to 10 a.m.
