Your Brain Known When You Need Laughter

Posted by reudaly on March 6, 2009 in Life |

I was working on a synopsis edit for a book idea I came up with a few years ago. It’s dark and serial killery. So apparently between that and the fact I’m battling a severe case of SPRING FEVER, my subconscious demanded comedy. Comedy darn it!

I went to Best Buy to use my gift card. I intended to get Get Smart’s Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control and Wall-E. Bruce and Lloyd I got, Wall-E I figured I could get anywhere (and probably cheaper). Bruce and Lloyd were listed at $14.99 – rang up $6.99. ROCK ON. But nothing else appealed.

Then we hit TWO, count ’em two, Half Price Books (again, Gift Card Usage). Had some ideas of what I wanted to get. Didn’t happen. Things started jumping off shelves and attaching themselves to me. At the Lewisville store I found The Best of Boris and Natasha, yes, the Bullwinkle Boris and Natasha. I had to find a step stool to get one, but get one I did. I also picked up Christopher Moore’s Lamb: the Gospel According to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Pal.

Then to Irving where I hit the comedic motherlode with one nod to Jane Yolen – I recommended her books to a young adult needing an SF book for a book report in Lewisville, they didn’t have much – but in Irving I found the omnibus Young Merlin. I got that. AND…

The Super Cheesy Star Trek:OS journal/notebook with Kirk on the cover and the quote: “I’ve already got a female to worry about. Her name is the Enterprise.” And it has great other assorted cheesy goodness quotes inside. Like, the assorted, “I’m a doctor, not a _____.” Bones quotes. It currently resides in my purse for persistent plot bunnies.

The unknown to me, still in shrink wrap, and only $4.98 – Doctor Who The Infinite Quest animated feature on BBC video. Featuring David Tennant and Freema Agyeman. Animated David Tennant. Animated David Tennant!!!! It doesn’t get much better – or probably cheesier than that.

Except for the widescreen DVD version of Galaxy Quest. Sweet campy goodness, I haven’t seen you in so long. I do feel for Alan Rickman. By being Snape, he’s pretty much become that character in Galaxy Quest.

I’m looking forward to a giggle marathon in the very near future. And rather expect some wild plot bunnies to erupt from it.
