I *Heart* My Starbucks Crew!!!!
Discliamer: It’s not the COFFEE at Starbucks I *heart*. It’s the morning shift at MY Starbucks location on North Collins and Lamar.
I *heart* my Starbucks morning crew. Especially this morning (drat that Wil Wheaton guy).
I didn’t sleep as well as I should’ve last night. I knew I had to get up a bit earlier than normal — and, like Wil mentioned in his blog yesterday, my brain DID NOT sing me little songs, but did let the Thought Hamsters loose to run their crazy little wheels until the wee-small-hours. So not nearly good enough or long enough sleep.
The reason for functioning earlier than normal was that — due to wacky FenConvehicle issues — I had to take my husband to work before starting my own day. Which makes it both early and late. And just off balance — because yes, I can be a serious creature of habit.
BUT… as I walked into my most awesomely staffed Starbucks location, L. – the morning manager – stuck a sample of their new oatmeal in my hand and brought over my coffee before I had the computer out of the bag with a jaunty, “Pay us later.” Which I promptly did while the computer booted, BTW. Oh, and she already rings up the refill when I buy the first cup — so all I ever have to do is return to the counter and do my best “Oliver Twist” impersonation. “Please, sir, may I some more” – big puppy eyes and all…
I feel like “NORM!!!!” this morning.
Put this crew in an independent roaster location in a moderately convenient location and you’d have to set me on fire to get me out of it.
Speaking of independent roasters — I’m so excited to be working with Addison Coffee Roasters this weekend with FenCon. I’ve missed GOOD coffee. And as a fun thing, I’ve ordered stuff for the GOHS and for me. I may have to get at least a half pound of their “Highland Grogg” blend. That amuses the crap out of me. It just seems like it’s what any good pirate should drink in the morning.
