[Writer Blog] Return to Work-From-Home and Links

Posted by reudaly on April 13, 2011 in Life, Writing |

What a difference a week makes when it comes to writing and plans and such. Real Life has taken an… unpleasant… turn, but not as unpleasant as it could be. If I were on a sports team, there’s a good shot I’d be on the DL list – bruised left shoulder. But… writing goes on. It really does. I’m rediscovering the advantages and challenges to working at home. Some are…loud. The dogs LOVE talking to lawn guys.

There has been an equal amount of good news this week to counter the other. The essay I wrote for Christine Rose for her new non-fiction book, Publishing & Marketing Realities for the Emerging Author is being featured on her blog. Go check it out. I mention this at conventions, and I think I’ve written a version of it here at least once before. It’s “The MTV/American Idol Effect in Writing”, and how writers are now expected to have the “Full Package”. But don’t take my word for it, go check it out. Then pick up the book when it comes out.

Anyway, that’s the latest. I posted on Monday about the script I entered into the MyOuterSpace contest. That STILL amazes me. I’m not sure who all voted on that, but being a fan girl, I don’t care. I’m still not sure if it’s going to be produced or not (I really hope so), but you’ll know when I know. TRUST ME. 😎

Now, I need to go work on revisions, new stuff, and learning ebook formatting. I still have a plan to work. And I intend to do it. Redheads doesn’t revise itself. I have a couple of other things on my plate, which I need to get to before the day is gone. Because it’s all part of the perseverance game when it comes to writing. No matter how much real life gets in the way, the writing is still there. And by doing things long hand, it’s a good excuse to step away from the computer. Sometimes that’s important, too.

So, here we go…switching gears back to work-from-home mentality. It’s a new page and a new chapter. It’s all good. One door has closed, but there are windows opening in my path. We all have challenges to deal with, the question is how do we deal with them? I’m choosing to be proactive. Join me?
